About me

I have always liked dogs and was raised around all sorts of them. I never had a registered dog unil a few years ago. I had always dreamed of having a lab. A friend of mine happened to be at a man's landscaping business helping him do some work and he had three registered labs that he was trying to find a good home for. He called me later in the evening to tell me that this man had what I was looking for.

The next day, I went with him. I saw the yellow female lab and I knew I just had to have her. Her name is Golden Pebbles Of Upper York, thus started Gold Rock Kennels.

I got her at the age of five (that was ten years ago) and bred her to a local dog that was having real nice puppies. She had ten healthy puppies and raised them all. I kept a male for myself, which I named Tinker's Little Man Yellow Max.

Since then, I met and became friends with a man that trains bird dogs and he loaned me some retriever training tapes and I began working with Max.

I attended the Palmetto Sportsman Classic and was amazed by what I saw. There they were doing a Hunt Test demonstration with the retrievers. I wanted my dog Max and I to get involved. I joined the PRC and met a lot of people like me who were interested in doing the same thing. I started training with the people running in Club Trails, then on up to AKC Hunt Test, and then finally to UKC Hunt Test.

I am proud to say that Max is titled AKC Master Hunter, UKC Upland Hunter and also Hunting Retriever Champion. Max is a great dog and has become my best friend.

Currently I no longer train for the Hunt Test because of my health, but I do raise puppies and try to do a little Obedience Training.
